BACKGROUND: Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia are inherited blood conditions
that
affect mainly people
from Africa, the Caribbean, Asia, the Mediterranean and
Saudi Arabia.
AIM OF
THE CONFERENCE: To raise awareness and highlight the
importance
of these conditions,
and in particular to discuss the risk factors, screening,
diagnosis, treatment and support services available from the
statutory and voluntary sectors.
GUEST SPEAKER:-
Mrs Sherlene Rudder, MBE is the President of the Sickle Cell
Society. She is
currently employed as Principal Genetic Counsellor with the
North West
Thames Regional
Genetic Service – North West London Hospitals NHS Trust –
Harrow.
She is a qualified
Registered Nurse, Midwife and Health Visitor.
